Dancing en pointe is an exciting milestone for any ballet dancer. It requires significant strength, stability and technique to perform safely and effectively. Going en pointe too early or without adequate preparation can lead to injuries such as stress fractures, ankle instability and overuse conditions.
A Pre-Pointe Assessment is crucial to determine whether a dancer is physically prepared and has the technical foundation to transition to pointe work.
In the Pre-Pointe Assessment, Jamison will examine your:
Range of motion
Muscle strength and endurance
Technique
Following the assessment, Jamison will provide a report outlining current strengths, areas for improvement and recommendations for exercises. This report can then be provided to your dance school.
Whether you are ready or not to start pointe work is not a reflection of how good of a dancer you are. If additional preparation is needed, Jamison will create a personalised training plan to help you build the necessary strength, flexibility and technique.
